Neural language models have revolutionised natural language processing (NLP) and have provided state-of-the-art results for many tasks. However, their effectiveness is largely dependent on the pre-training resources. Therefore, language models (LMs) often struggle with low-resource languages in both training and evaluation. Recently, there has been a growing trend in developing and adopting LMs for low-resource languages. Supporting this important shift, LoResLM aims to provide a forum for researchers to share and discuss their ongoing work on LMs for low-resource languages.
๐ง๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฐ๐
LoResLM 2027 invites submissions on a broad range of topics related to the development and evaluation of neural language models for low-resource languages. We welcome research that explores modalities beyond text and encourage work on low-resource dialects in addition to major language varieties. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
โข Building language models for low-resource languages.
โข Adapting/extending existing language models/large language models for low-resource languages.
โข Corpora creation and curation technologies for training language models/large language models for low-resource languages.
โข Benchmarks to evaluate language models/large language models in low-resource languages.
โข Prompting/in-context learning strategies for low-resource languages with large language models.
โข Review of available corpora to train/fine-tune language models/large language models for low-resource languages.
โข Multilingual/cross-lingual language models/large language models for low-resource languages.
โข Multimodal language models/large language models for low-resource languages.
โข Applications of language models/large language models for low-resource languages (i.e. machine translation, chatbots, content moderation, etc.)

ABOUT RANLP
------------------------------------------------------------------------
RANLP (Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing) is one of the most competitive NLP conferences. The event is held biennially and grew out of the International summer schools 'Contemporary topics in Computational Linguistics', which were organised for many years as international training events. Previous RANLP conferences (1995-2025) featured keynote talks by leading experts in NLP as well as high-quality papers, rigorously reviewed by a Programme Committee of well-known scientists. The Student Research Workshops (now in their 10th edition) have become active discussion forums for young researchers.
Since 2009, papers accepted at RANLP and its associated workshops have been included in the ACL Anthology. The RANLP proceedings are indexed by SCOPUS and DBLP, and since 2017 all accepted papers have DOI numbers. The conference will be preceded by a summer school, 'Deep Learning and Large Language Models for NLP ', and tutorials on current hot topics, and will be followed by specialised workshops and shared tasks in advanced subfields of NLP.
Venue: RANLP-2027 will be held in Varna, the largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, at Hotel 'Cherno More'. The venue is centrally located at the entrance of the Sea Garden and offers excellent conference facilities. Varna is a major tourist destination with numerous flights to/from Varna International Airport.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following the workshops held in conjunction with RANLP-2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025, we are pleased to invite workshop proposals for RANLP-2027.
RANLP-2027 welcomes proposals on any topic of interest to the NLP community, from fundamental research questions to applied, industrial or commercial work. We particularly encourage workshops that use or discuss the latest NLP methods, including Large Language Models and Generative AI. A workshop can last from half a day to the full two workshop days (9-10 September 2027), and can include demo sessions and shared tasks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORKSHOP FORMAT AND ONSITE PRESENCE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Organisers decide whether their workshop runs face-to-face or hybrid. In either case, the sessions must be held onsite in Varna for the full duration of the workshop, so that other RANLP participants can attend. At least one organiser must be present in Varna to run the workshop and chair the onsite sessions. If no organiser can attend in Varna, the workshop will be cancelled. Where possible, its accepted papers will be moved to another workshop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
REGISTRATION AND FUNDING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each accepted workshop receives one free full registration to RANLP-2027. It covers the summer school, tutorials, main conference, all workshops, the reception and the conference dinner. Organisers may use this registration however they choose, for example, for one of the organisers or for an invited speaker.
Any further organisers and invited speakers must register and pay the standard fee. The RANLP-2027 Organising Committee cannot provide any other financial support. If organisers plan to invite speakers beyond the one covered by the free registration, they must secure their own funding (for example, a grant or sponsorship) to cover those costs. Where possible, we recommend inviting a speaker from among the main conference keynote speakers or participants.
Please note that the free registration does not cover publication. At least one author of each accepted workshop paper must register for RANLP-2027 and pay the standard fee for the paper to be included in the RANLP-2027 proceedings, as for the main conference. This also applies to papers co-authored by workshop organisers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORKSHOP VENUE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The workshops will take place at Hotel 'Cherno More', the main RANLP-2027 venue.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBMISSION AND REVIEWING PLATFORM
------------------------------------------------------------------------
All RANLP-2027 workshops must use START for paper submission, reviewing and camera-ready collection. The RANLP-2027 proceedings for the ACL Anthology, covering the main conference and all workshops and shared tasks, are generated from START, so each workshop's submissions, review records and proceedings must be managed there. The RANLP-2027 organisers will set up a START submission portal for every accepted workshop.

CALL FOR PAPERS
ACLing 2026 invites researchers, academics, practitioners, and industry professionals to submit original research in computational linguistics, natural language processing (NLP), and the development, evaluation, and application of language models.
The conference welcomes both advances in language technologies and interdisciplinary research using pretrained language models, large language models (LLMs), or vision-language models to address problems in other fields. Applications in healthcare, education, cybersecurity, business, engineering, agriculture, and environmental sustainability are encouraged.
Application papers do not need to introduce a new language model or linguistic theory. Language models should play a central methodological role, and submissions should present a clear scientific contribution supported by appropriate evaluation.
Research on any natural language is welcome, including Arabic, multilingual, cross-lingual, code-switching, and low-resource settings. Papers and presentations must use English; this requirement does not restrict the language studied.
ACLing 2026 connects two physical conference hubs with virtual participation through one unified scientific program. Authors may present in Dubai, Jordan, or online, subject to the final program and session allocation.
Two Countries. Two Physical Hubs. One International Research Community.
