Dear all,
I’m pleased to announce that the 3rd AbjadNLP Workshop will be co-located with COLING 2027 in Macau, China!
AbjadNLP brings together researchers working on Abjad and Ajami languages written in Arabic-based scripts across Africa and Asia, representing hundreds of millions of speakers. Many of these languages remain under-represented in NLP research. The workshop continues to grow, attracting over 90 submissions at our previous edition.
We are also delighted to welcome Prof. Steven Bird (Charles Darwin University, Australia) as our keynote speaker. Steven is widely known for his contributions to NLTK and his longstanding work with Indigenous and under-resourced language communities.
We are now inviting shared task proposals for AbjadNLP 2027, focusing on languages and varieties using Arabic-based scripts, including Abjad and Ajami writing traditions. We particularly encourage proposals covering under-represented languages and varieties to promote greater linguistic diversity and inclusion.
Submit your shared task proposal: https://forms.gle/CkF57ULjfV6D2zLR8
