Looking for EDITORIAL ASSISTANT for an ACADEMIC JOURNAL IN COMPUTATIONAL
LINGUISTICS
Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) is seeking an Editorial
Assistant for Transactions of the Association for Computational
Linguistics (TACL), an ACL-sponsored journal published by MIT Press that
publishes papers in all areas of computational linguistics and natural
language processing. This position provides an experience in the world
of academic publishing and the peer-review process and a first-hand
engagement with the most current and impactful work on computational
linguistics.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Editorial Assistant will:
Manage the submission process using a web-based workflow management
system (WMS)
Correspond with authors, in coordination with the Editors-in-Chief
(EiC), regarding submissions of articles, revisions and possibility of
presentation at ACL conferences for eligible papers
Correspond with action editors and reviewers, in coordination with the
EiC, regarding submissions of reviews and decisions
Prepare monthly Activity Report for EiCs
Consult with EiCs when issues arise
Interact with the API developers and oversee updates to the WMS
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Candidates are required to have:
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Demonstrated attention to detail
Strong written communication skills
Knowledge and experience with using APIs
The work is done remotely; interaction with the team of
Editors-in-Chief, reviewers, and authors will be electronic.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Editorial Assistant is named on the masthead of each issue of TACL
and works closely and directly with the Editors-In-Chief.
The start date of this position is June 1, 2024. The workload varies
somewhat over the course of the journal’s annual cycle but averages
approximately 20 hours weekly.
