We are excited to announce that our 9th Annual Law & Corpus Linguistics Conference will be held on October 24-25, 2024, at the law school at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Keynote addresses will be delivered by Edward Finegan, Professor Emeritus of Linguistics and Law at the University of Southern California, and Lawrence Solum, the William L. Matheson and Robert M. Morgenthau Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Virginia.
Proposals are invited for individual papers and panels. We are open to submissions on a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:
- applications of corpus linguistics to constitutional, statutory, contract, patent, trademark, probate, administrative, and criminal law in any state or nation;
- philosophical, normative, and pragmatic commentary on the use of corpus linguistics in the law;
triangulation between corpus linguistics and other empirical methods in legal interpretation;
- corpus-based analysis of legal discourse or topics;
- best practices in corpus design and corpus linguistic methods in legal settings.
