Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Linguistics, with a primary specialization in computational linguistics. We seek candidates who are active researchers in a core linguistics area that complements existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will play an important role in the continued development of our programs in computational linguistics at the graduate and undergraduate levels that prepare students for careers in industry as well as academia. The new faculty will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, have an active research agenda, and participate in graduate mentoring and student advisement. Willingness to provide service to the department, university and the larger professional community is also required. Demonstrated ability in grant seeking/writing is a plus. COLLEGE/SCHOOL AND DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONS The Linguistics Department at Montclair State, housed within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, offers a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate programs including B.A. in Linguistics, M.A. in Applied Linguistics, and M.S. in Computational Linguistics (jointly with Computer Science). The undergraduate concentrations include ASL/English Interpreting, TESL, and Language Engineering. We also offer Graduate Certificates in Teaching English as a Second Language, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Computational Linguistics. The Montclair State Linguistics Department faculty are all actively engaged in research.

QUALIFICATIONS Earned Ph.D. in Linguistics or related discipline required at the time of appointment. Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels and an active research agenda in computational linguistics.
