Announcing the call for papers for #ECIR2026 IR-for-Good Track: https://ecir2026.eu/calls/call-for-ir-for-good-papers Abstracts due: Oct 21 Papers due: Oct 28 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This year, we are revamping the #IR4Good track as a core track at the conference which will run alongside the main conference, not on workshop day. The special track will be a platform to highlight top societally-motivated IR research. We strongly encourage authors to submit societally-motivated papers to this special track. We invite contributions that explore new positions, critiques, tools, methods, datasets, and interventions for IR-for-Good, including works informed by interdisciplinary perspectives. Topics of interest for the #IR4Good track include how IR research and practices can contribute towards realizing more equitable, emancipatory, and sustainable collective futures. ----------------------------------- Theories of Change To ensure desired societal impact, this year we require all submissions that propose new tools, methods, datasets, and interventions to explicitly and rigorously argue how the work contributes towards positive social outcomes. Authors should critically engage with these questions, not just as an afterthought. Do not inflate your claims of societal impact, instead rigorously deliberate on your sociotechnical assumptions and potential negative externalities. Please see the CFP for example cases illustrating the kind of critical reflections we want to encourage authors and reviewers to engage in when claiming societal impact. Position papers and critiques are exempted from this requirement. We are looking forward to your submissions to the track. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
