Dear list members,
I would like to draw your attention on the following job opening at the European Parliament, Directorate-General for Translation, Directorate for Citizens' language, Speech-to-Text Unit.
Currently the team is managing a project aimed at acquiring an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Machine Translation (MT) cascade tool covering all the 24 official languages of the European Union. The main goal of this tool is to make plenary debates accessible to D/deaf and hard of hearing persons.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the evaluation of the tool, evaluated using both automatic metrics and human assessment. A job description is attached to this email.
The main responsibilities are: - linguistic evaluation of the performance of the tool (automatic metrics + human evaluation); - monitoring the performance of the tool in real events; - writing reports; - data collection, curation and annotation for the purposes of the project; - terminology coordination; - project-related research and technology watch; - other project related activities.
The contract length is 1 year (renewable maximum for 6 years) and is identified as Contractual Agent FG IV. The job will be performed in Luxembourg.
Possible *commencement of duties* on the 1st of September 2023.
