Candidates need to have a research area in Computational Linguistics that aligns with interests in the department and/or helps strengthen the research and teaching profile of the Computational Linguistics programs at IU. Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in the area of speech technologies (recognition or synthesis), with an interest in developing methodologies for under-resourced languages or in resource-constrained environments, but other research areas will also be considered. Evidence of an active research agenda and a strong commitment to innovative teaching is required for consideration. A PhD in computational linguistics or natural language processing is required at the time of appointment. The program operates in a very interdisciplinary environment, with close connections to Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Information and Library Science, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and the language programmes, and candidates are expected to fit into this collaborative landscape. Collaborative research and joint advising of students in the departments of Computer Science and Informatics will be possible. We are seeking a talented, highly motivated, academic with the potential to expand the research and teaching activities related to the broad field of data science at Universidad de Chile. This is a unique opportunity to join the recently established Initiative for Data and Artificial Intelligence (IDIA) and collaborate with an interdisciplinary group of academics from the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) at Universidad de Chile The position is full-time, open-rank, and leads to a tenure track. Salary will depend on the initial evaluation, for reference, the starting salary for an Assistant Professor ranges between CLP$3.400.000 and CLP$4.000.000 per month before taxes. You are expected to lead a successful research agenda that attracts grant funding, as well as be committed to teaching activities both for undergraduate and graduate programmes. Call For Volunteers: EMNLP 2023

A limited number of student volunteers are needed for the success of EMNLP 2023. Both online and in-person event volunteers are needed. Tasks may include assisting at the registration desk, filling delegate packs, managing poster board sessions and displays, serving as volunteer coordinator for the day, and/or AV/technical support such as (but not limited to) managing social media (X/Twitter) and providing assistance for conference events including tutorials, the main conference, and workshops (either online or in-person versions). In exchange for one full day equivalent of work, students receive free registration to the main conference (including the ACL membership fee of the current year), workshops and tutorials, and the social events. The work will be divided, probably into two half-day shifts, and the shifts will be scheduled to maximize volunteer access to the conference events. Rather than evaluating systems, this shared task calls on the community to gather comprehensive evaluation resources to provide a clearer picture of evaluation: 1. Postdoctoral position in computational linguistics with specialisation in language grounding to vision, robotics, and beyond University of Gothenburg, Sweden Project Description: The broad focus of this position is computational modelling of language (computational linguistics, natural language processing or language technology) in the context of data from other modalities such as vision, perception and action from the perspective of human-centred AI. The topics relevant for this position are computational modelling of language and perception, human-robot interaction, situated spoken dialogue systems, and computational representation of meaning (semantics). The work will be done within the Cognitive Systems group (lead by Simon Dobnik, https://www.gu.se/en/about/find-staff/simondobnik ) which one of the four research groups within The Centre for Linguistic Theory and Studies in Probability (CLASP), https://www.gu.se/clasp and is devoted to research and advanced training in the application of probabilistic modelling and machine learning methods to core issues in linguistic theory and cognition.
